The Peasant Movement Training
Institute
Originally a Confucian temple built
in the 14th century, this place was set up by the founders of the Communist
Party in 1924
to train young idealists who would
then go out and educate the masses in rural China. Some famous figures
who taught here
were Mao Tse Tung and Zhou Enlai.
The institute was closed in 1926 due to tensions between Nationalists and
Communists.
Many of the former students were killed
in the failed uprising in 1927.
Reopened in the '50's as a museum.
